Situated on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth, Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Edinburgh's charming combination of historical landmarks and contemporary architecture has made it one of the most visited parts of the entire United Kingdom.
Edinburgh, an incredible city, has got to be one of the most beautiful cities in the whole world. The setting is wonderfully striking: perched on a series of extinct volcanoes and rocky crags which rise from the generally flat landscape of the Lothians, with the sheltered shoreline of the Firth of Forth to the north.
There are just street after street of incredible, awe-inspiring architecture and vistas in Edinburgh. There are so many places of historical interest in the city. Edinburgh Castle, for example, is a fortress built on the top of the Castle Rock volcano and can be dated back to the 11th century.
It is a green city and has more than 100 public parks and more trees per person than any other British city. Edinburgh is know as a city of festivals. Each August the city hosts the biggest annual international arts festival in the world.
