Galapagos Island - Travel Guide

Galapagos is a group of thirteen islands and more than forty islets located around the equator in the Pacific Ocean. It is a captivating archipelago with beautiful coastal features, cultural beauty and one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations. The thirteen unique islands of Galapagos are Espanola, Floreana, Genovesa, Isabela, Pinta, Pinzon, San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Santiago and Marchena. 

Galapagos Islands were once a lonely region without any human settlement. These islands were only hide-outs for pirates in the sixteenth century. They were later discovered by Bishop Fray Tomas who was travelling to Peru to ease a dispute but his ship misled its way to the islands because the drifting winds never showed up. The islands were named Islands of Galapagos meaning giant tortoises that are found in the islands. The population in Galapagos consists majorly of the Ecuadorian Mestizos, mixed races of Spanish descent and the Native Americans. Their culture is a copy of Ecuador’s culture because these communities migrated into Galapagos Islands from the mainland of Ecuador. 

Galapagos is a region of numerous beautiful features and animal species that mankind can never turn its back on due to the value of their appearance. The mangrove lagoons at the coast are the only ones that you can never find so beautiful created in other parts of the world.
