Cherrapunji

 Cherrapunji (also spelled as Cherrapunjee), is a village in East Khasi Hills district in the state of Meghalaya, India. Meghalaya means "House Clouds". Meghalaya is so beautiful, so called "Scotland of Asia". This place is known as the wettest place in the World.

 Cherrapunji located at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level.

Tropical regions have a lot of rain when the sun vaporizes a large volume of water from the warm ocean regions. When the wind carrying moisture from the Indian Ocean collided with the wind from the south slope of Himalayas Pegungungan and pushed up, wind it will shed all of its cargo in the form of heavy rain. Plato Meghalaya is a land of rainfall. In addition, because these areas of high tropical sun seemed to accept that the maximum in the daytime, rain clouds are formed and floated around Plato until the air becomes cold at night. That is why most hujab down at night.


 During the month of July 1861, Cherrapunji received exceptional rainfall, which is 930 centimeters! Also, during the period of 12 months from August 1, 1860 until July 31, 1861, rainfall reached 2646 feet. Today, on average, Cherrapunji rain 180 days per year. The heaviest rainfall occurs between June and September. Since most rain fell at night, visitors can enjoy the tour without having to get soaked.
