During 2004 Tsunami, many of these Islands were totally washed away. The Government has built flood barriers to assist the impact of any future Tsunami. These small coral Islands are bounded by tremendous driving and snorkeling, white sand beaches. Private resorts litter the Islands, and a vacation here is also extremely expensive. The best time to go to the Maldives is during the month of November to May, when the weather is cool and dry.
