Mount Agung

Mount Agung is the tallest mountain on the island of Bali with a height of 3142 masl. The mountain is located in the district of Rendang, Karangasem regency - Bali - Indonesia.

Mount Agung is a volcano stratovolcano, volcanic crater that has a very large and very deep that sometimes smoke and water vapor. Of Pura Besakih the mountain is visible with a pointed cone is perfect, but it actually extends the peak of this mountain and ends at a circular craters and wide.

From the top of Mount Agung we can see the summit of Mount Rinjani in Lombok to the east, although both mountains are covered with clouds as the two peaks are located above the clouds, islands of Nusa Penida in the south along its shores, including Sanur beach and mountain and lake Batur in the northwest.

Balinese Hindu community believe that Mount Agung is the place bersemayamnya gods, and also society believe that these mountains there is a palace of a deity. Therefore, the Balinese make this place as a place kramat is purified.
