Innsbruck, Austria - Travel Guide and Travel Info

For all the skiers around the world, who seek for excitement, and fun, Innsbruck is paradise. This is a very beautiful city in the old state of Tyrol, and has very beautiful landscape and snow capped mountains. It is indeed a true Alpine beauty. On Austria’s west side, this city reveals a wonderful winter land, where everything is possible. 



Looking for some action, and days spent with lots of activities, lots of people choose this place as their holiday destination at winter. The winter sports are this place’s mark, and the glance of the Olimpic Games, which were held here twice, attracts skiers from everywhere. History left it’s touch on Innsbruck, so through the many churches, museums, monuments and galleries, you’ll go many years back, and in some way experience the life in the Middle Ages. 



In the Christmas season, this town’s “Altstadt” is converted into a magical wonderland. Candles and mulled wine, or 'Glühwein', they call it, Christmas decorations, they all complete town’s holiday spirit. To bye a souvenir, tourists look for the stands beneath the medieval arches. Lots of treats can be purchased there, golden baubles, carved wooden figures, and so much more. 




Some of the many attractions of this place are the Hofburg Palace, situated in the old town, the Hofsburg Chapel and the amazing museum of local culture traditions and culture. 


Speaking of the landscape, and nature, you have a chance to enjoy the in this magnificent white idyll. The Nodkette mountains covered by snow dominate the city, and the view is breathtaking. On the east and wast side you can notice one of the Alp’s deepest valleys. By train or a post bus, you can get to Stubai valley on south, and Seefeld plateau on northwest, and get closer to the nature, walking through the mountain trails. 



Whether you’re a beginner, or an expert, the 300 km long trails offer you the time of your life, on one of the 9 ski resorts. They’re suitable for everyone, including snowboarders, who face the challenges of Skylinepark and Superpipe. Using the Nordketten cable car, alpine skiers and sun seekers admire the fabulous panoramic sights. It is indeed experience of lifetime. This ride is very unique, since you can get to the mountain heights, at 860 m above sea level, while witnessing the outstanding architecture and daring ascents. 



At the slopes of Kühtai, there’s nothing that can stop you. The only limit you’ll have there, seems to be the sky. As for the families that like more relaxed, wide turn skiing, the family slopes of Glungezer, Mutterer Alm, Rangger Köpfl, Patscherkofel or Schlick 2000 are perfect. And the ski enthusiasts enjoy skiing in Birgitzköpfl, where the tracks of the Olympic slalom specialist still remain. 




All in all, Innsbruck is a perfect place for the ones who prefer white, snowy winter vacation.
